[Game 20] Epilogue

Maon leads the way back towards civilization—somehow making his way easily back out through the woods, and you know, there's some things you just don't ask about.

It's a little longer walk back than it was getting there—you'd ended up popping out in a slightly different location. The sun isn't quite up enough to be causing any adverse side effects, and somehow as you walk, you find any fatigue or pain or chill drifting away, leaving you feeling rejuvinated rather than exhausted. The really happy archangel might be partially to blame for that.

The cottage soon comes into sight. Siùsaidh is sitting on the porch waiting, and Tristan's car is once again parked outside.

"Tis about time ye got back," she says firmly. "Tis been three days, and I can only mind an incubus in my home fer so long. Step inside for breakfast, now, won't ye?"

Well, you two should talk for one thing. You're important to him after all.

And secondly I think he thinks I'm going to not want him around anymore cuz you're here? Which is dumb. Although I mean. For a moment when I saw him walking away earlier I got scared he was leaving ME so. So I understand feelings are dumb.

And then there's the whole thing with Luka and Elli where we both love having them around but Sariel is too Sariel to admit it. And Elli and Luka are. Them.

So I have to figure out how to keep my awkward mythical beings family together.

[boatsights]

I haven't really talked to Sariel a whole lot . . . I just, um. Well. "I'm" important to him . . .

[he gestures with his fork to accentuate that]

. . . what's he like? You two got close . . .

It's...he's fussy and prissy. He gets all ruffled up pretty easily. And he can say some things that are pretty terrible.

But he's trying really hard. To be good to me. And think about me. Ah, we ended up having a fight and I stole his face and really ground it into him how he made me feel. But he didn't get angry. He apologized for hurting me.

When he gets really emotional, he switches from I to We. It's a good hint that he's feeling a lot.

Uhm. He makes me feel really safe. I know you told him to protect me but. It's not really for you now when he does it.

[huffs a little]

He told me to keep my hopes in check today because he didn't want to see me hurt again.

[boatsights]

It . . . sounds like you're good for each other.

[a long pause]

I don't really know how to talk to another angel. What if he thinks I'm super weird and . . . um.

[liarliarliar]

Oh, he will. He thinks everyone is weird and improper. That's just kind of a thing with him.

I mean our fight came up because he said I'd keep you from important angel stuff.

But under all that he cares a lot and wants me to be happy. And I bet getting to know you he'll want that for you too.

[boatsights]

. . . ah. We're just going to have to fight about 'proper' angel stuff a lot?

[liarliarliar]

If he does that to you I'll steal his face again.

[boatsights]

Shuuya . . . I don't want to cause problems . . .

Families fight. It's fine.

[boatsights]

Ah.

[contemplates that quietly for a bit, moving the remainder of the icing around on his plate with his fork]

I wouldn't worry too much. He learns from exposure. And a firm slightly unfair fussing.

I hope he won't get all dramatic and try to leave me alone.

[boatsights]

It doesn't sound like he wants that.

Okay yeah but understand you're surrounded by a bunch of people who would do things that runs counter to their own happiness for a variety of reasons.

[boatsights]

Um . . . that's true.

Ah—and Luka and Elli, you mentioned?

[liarliarliar]

They been staying with us because they had to help with the stuff to find you.

It's. Been fun? It's nice to have more people around. They're not as fussy as Sariel. And I can tell Elli really likes it.

It feels. More like what my old home was like.

[boatsights]

Ah . . .

So I'll have to sort them all out eventually to try to keep things together.

[boatsights]
