[Game 20] Epilogue

Maon leads the way back towards civilization—somehow making his way easily back out through the woods, and you know, there's some things you just don't ask about.

It's a little longer walk back than it was getting there—you'd ended up popping out in a slightly different location. The sun isn't quite up enough to be causing any adverse side effects, and somehow as you walk, you find any fatigue or pain or chill drifting away, leaving you feeling rejuvinated rather than exhausted. The really happy archangel might be partially to blame for that.

The cottage soon comes into sight. Siùsaidh is sitting on the porch waiting, and Tristan's car is once again parked outside.

"Tis about time ye got back," she says firmly. "Tis been three days, and I can only mind an incubus in my home fer so long. Step inside for breakfast, now, won't ye?"

Um. I guess we'd barely even kissed before we were separated. We're, um, going back at this really strong.

I'm super nervous. About feeling this much and being able to act on it. And, um, because I do feel . . . different. Do I seem really different?

[...tugging Madison up, nodding towards the couch]

Come sit with me there and I'll tell you.

[immediately looks a little nervously again, but stands, and follows, trusting]

How to not sound stupid when saying this... Be patient with me, okay?

[once they're sat down he cuddles up to Madison's side]

You're still you. But it's a you who believes their life is their own.

Before you weren't sure it belonged to you or if you could keep anything. So you didn't want to fill it.

That's. What I think. I've seen someone go from a normal person to someone who thought they needed to die for the sake of others before. And all the things they loved started to fall away when that happened. But that was the same person all the way through.

So you're....different. But it's just because you feel different. The world isn't as impossible now. And the you that you are now is... I like it. The Madison who has made it through everything and came out stronger and wanting everything.

[boatsights]

[draws in a breath, as if to say something to that, but just ends up making a warbly sort of sobbing sound instead]

Are you going to cry....? Geez.

[reaches up and pets his hair]

That wasn't even well said.

You understand.

As much as I can.

And it's fine, it's fine. I'm really excited for an excited Madison.

[boatsights]

[cuddles up against his side]
