"Doesn't seem like you're being chased," the demon points out.

"Hm, hmmm . . ." the demon muses. "Where am I chasing you? Are you running?"

The demon cocks its head to one side, white eye narrowing.

"Lucia?" it echoes. "Lucia. Why do you stay away?"

"Like the stray over there?" The demon's gaze goes sharply towards the gravestone behind which Kit is hiding. "Is he a friend? Is he a secret? Hm, hmmm . . ."

"Which is it?" the crow asks. "Tell me."

"I trade," it tells her.
