I fought Lucia and yelled at her last time. Because she'd hurt people and done some pretty stupid things, and--and it wasn't worth it. It's not going to be worth it ever, and she doesn't know that, and...

...and then we went back in the middle of that. She was crying. I want to talk to her but I don't know what's happened to her since.

The demon's smile ratchets up a few notches.

"Lucia M. Bellcourt is being brought up on charges of theft, unlawful possession of demonic artifacts, and interference with the due course of soul exchange," the demon recites. "As well as being a suspect involved in the disappearance of one Great Duke Asmoday, Prince of Hell."

We were summoned and scattered all over and got no solid explanation from anyone--at least, I never did. So I guess we're trying to find out what we're meant to do here and why. And how to get home, that part's pretty important.

The crow stands up, brushing off its shorts, and tucks its book back in its jacket. "Pleasure doing business with you, Anise Tatlin," it says, then seems to . . . morph back into the graveyard, disappearing into the shadows.
