[Game 18] Endgame

It's early morning by the time they tidy up the house and fix the windows—leaving it as neat as they'd entered it, Tristan promises—and head out. Tristan seems to be itching to just get away from the place, though they can't return to the church, and it's now New Year's Day—so they head back across the border to the house in New York. Even Sariel comes along—albeit reluctantly—at Tristan's suggestion.

"To my understanding," Tristan says, "the kid's with Sera right now, which I'm cool with. I was a bit rough on him, so he might be sleeping it off for another little while—and like you all said, he might be a bit freaked out to see a dozen people staring at him. So let's leave him there for now. I can send you all home." He pauses.

"But if you want to come back soon . . . I can bring you back. No agenda necessary. If you don't want to come—well, let me know, and I'll try not to bring you."

I didn't get to give you one for Christmas, so I'm catching up.

Oh... Well, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

What happened with you guys, anyway?

[troublebrewing]

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. It was pretty quiet for us... we had a nice dinner and exchanged gifts, and didn't do very much else.

[playfair]

Well, that's nice...

But also, I mean... What happened today? Like, how did you even know something was happening?

[troublebrewing]

Una summoned the group, and we got a few texts telling us they were in a church in New Jersey, so we came over on the subway. It seemed like a missing persons case... we were looking for this Alexander person. He'd written a post online about having prophetic dreams--some of them sounded like the apocalypse. He also had visions that related to Madison, and he might have a clue as to where they are. He lived in this area, and so we looked him up... and got caught up in a spell that pulled us into his subconscious. That's where we all were, inside that dream place.

Oh... He sounds like a pretty unlucky guy then. I hope he's nice...

[troublebrewing]

He seems very normal... we didn't really get to speak with him properly until the end there. Most of what I know about him is that he watches a lot of horror movies and video games.

And a cartoon show about ponies.

[playfair]

Ponies are cute...

I'm sure he's nice! We just have to make sure he's on our side.

[troublebrewing]

The ones who went with him will know... but, I think he kind of got caught up in this by accident. He didn't even know what those dreams meant.

That's why he should be part of our group! He's just another person who got dragged into stuff kind of on accident but now he knows too much so he's basically stuck sticking with some kind of group, and it may as well be ours, since we're not all total jerks! ♥

[despite how that could come off as snipey, he actually sounds pretty cheerful]

...We should come up with a real name for our group.

A name... yes, that's a good idea. An acronym, perhaps?

An acronym... of what?

It has to be something we can pronounce or else it will be a huge pain to tell everyone.

[troublebrewing]

Right. Let's brainstorm. What kinds of things do we do? What are we known for?

[playfair]

Not being jerks, and helping people in trouble!

[troublebrewing]

A lot of people do that... what makes us special?

[playfair]

We're a neutral party! So we help people from all the other different groups. And we're like, mediators, I guess. Maybe.

[um, we probably didn't do too well with that this time. but theoretically]

[troublebrewing]

There's also our origins... those are important, too. The Mayfair-Bellcourts were really at the heart of it, and still kind of are.

[playfair]

Ahaha, yeah, I guess so, huh? ♥ We could even call ourselves something cool like, the Mayfair Alliance, or whatever.

[THEN, WHEN I INTRODUCE MYSELF, I LOOK SUPER IMPORTANT TO THE ORGANIZATION]

It does sound cool... but it's a little too fancy for what we really are. We're just people, trying to save the world from the apocalypse and help others... maybe...

We can't just call ourselves Mayfair People... Mayfair Helpful People... There's no vowels in that.

[troublebrewing]

Hmm... we could be The People Against... something. General disorder and bad supernatural things. That's sort of what we do, right?

[playfair]

PA...GD...BST?

[struggling to pronounce it]

Or like, "Chaos and Terrible Stuff".
