[Final Day] Endgame

There is a noise like broken glass as the giant shadowy snake wavers in place, then falls over, hitting the roof so hard that dust billows up on on various levels of existence, making the whole building shake. You begin to see more people all around you—flickering, as if the layers are merging into one, the separations between them vanishing.

Superimposed over the snake's fading body—yes, there is, in fact, a giant shadow snake, visible to everyone now, even those who had just been fighting Mithos—is a man in a labcoat bending over on his knees, shuddering and grasping at the ground.

"Sssssss . . . thissssss . . ."

He jerks abruptly, then sags a little more, as if losing energy, trying to force his eyes to stay open, but . . .

She squeezes her. "I'm confused but I'm okay??? Why are you sorry?"

"I am ...still trying to figure out what happened there, yeah," she says. "But I guess it's -- almost even, huh."

I don't know, I wasn't keeping track— how did you find out...?

"Find out what?"

[delivoreance]

That we were in trouble.

[arsgoetia]

She makes a face. "Yuki apparently tried to contact Davy and Davy felt him hit some kind of barrier. So he figured out the area he'd felt the contact 'hit' and got me to start hacking into machines to see if we could find anything out. We weren't here for that originally, like we said, but it's not like we wouldn't drop everything if you guys were in trouble."

She seems to realize how moe she's sounding and stiffens a little. "I mean, we owe it to you guys and all!"

[delivoreance]

[...tucks her head into Lucia's shoulder.]

...I wonder what that snake was... and why we're here... I hope we weren't a trap for you. Be careful...

[arsgoetia]

"It'd be really weird if it was a trap for us," she says. "Incidents have been reported for a while here, right? But yeah it's not like they didn't grab me as soon as I showed up here. Yikes." She puts a hand on the back of Sera's head.

[delivoreance]

I'm... really glad you're okay. Do you think we'll be able to find out more about what happened...?

[arsgoetia]

"We're definitely not going to want to let this go, right?"

[delivoreance]

Whatever that was, it was powerful... be careful, please...

[arsgoetia]

"I know, but ..." She hesitates. "I don't like waiting for things to just come get me."

[delivoreance]

No, I... wouldn't think so. Still.

[arsgoetia]

"Obviously I want to be careful," she agrees.

[delivoreance]

I think... it's very likely that we were needed specifically... since it seems that's what keeps happening...

"Yeah," she says. "No, I mean, I agree..."

Maybe getting involved as witnesses in hell politics and then just leaving was optimisic...
