[balls his hand into a fist then opens it and SMACKS Yuki across the face]

I WAS being quiet until you started taking forever!

[SLAPS BACK!! then crosses his arms and steps to the side]

The Sword's eyebrows have raised. Wow!

[deeep angry breaths]

"Hey," the Sword says. "It's all right, honey. Darling, it's okay."

Not another word. Unless it's regarding your previous contracts.

"Your promise," he says. "I value it. I know how much your word means to you... I can have faith in that."

I promise. Now tell me.

The Sword says, "I never made a contract with Bastien."

You—what?!

"He was more like... I saw an opportunity, and I took it," the Sword says.

So—there were no conditions to your agreement?

"He was weak to power and excitement, and got overwhelmed. I was... very hungry," the Sword says. "I was starving. I needed food...very, very quickly."

So you urged him to slaughter and then remained in his possession?

"And then he clamped down on me and bound me and chained me and broke a piece of me away," the Sword agrees. "Ahh, you have to understand, it was horrific."

It must have been quite awful for your will to be made subject to that of another.

"I have not eaten away or removed or taken from you any part of yourself," the Sword says. "He did that to me."

I—understand. What actions had you urged him to, specifically?

The Sword frowns at him. "There's far too much history there to sum up in a conversation. If you would let me inside, I could show you."
