[Day 4] Hell

Some of you are discussing serious lawyering with the most serious lawyer. Others are reuniting with old friends, or meeting new ones(?) . . . and some of you are just flat-out riding bad decision dinosaur trains.

It is not, the Sword says in Konatsu's mind. It matters very much, how you view her. How I view her. I did not leave you for her so I could be with her instead of you, Konatsu Warren. Pardon this speech; I am aware your handsome friend here can hear, but these are not matters I wish to speak aloud in this place.

[...frowns, and starts listening more intently- not to Konatsu and the sword, he'll hear that anyways with them right there -but actually paying attention now to everything else in his range, checking for eavesdroppers. the small square lights drift away from him, spreading out along the edges of the hall.]

Yuki picks up foreign minds which feel sick to touch too closely, nearby, listening agents -- of course. This IS maximum security.

It was an opportunity that would only come once. You and I both knew that we were raising my power for a bid to take down Asmodeus. I never hid it from you. He was absurdly weakened, serving her -- more powerful than humans could stand, but weaker than he'd ever been. He was even feeding off the streets like a common beast. By taking her over, or by striking her down so you could claim the seal, I would be able to have power over Asmodeus. When the time came, I needed to make the decision quickly as to what would work best. It still failed. But it was never so I could abandon you. I'm far more interested in staying at your side than a bratty girl who wishes to keep me as part of a collection, her chattel.

It seems—there is still some complications regarding the charges against her. While you were there—tell me—do you know why she was gathering the artifacts? Why did she have Asmodeus under her command?

Asmodeus was bound to the Seal, the Sword says, impatiently. He's forced to obey whoever holds it, and she somehow found it. For the others -- her bad hobby?

When has she been anything but self-serving and full of avarice?

Recently—she has changed somewhat. But I suppose it is of no importance.

Of course. There—is a possibility that you may be blamed for crimes that she has committed, though. So—anything you know of her motivations could be helpful.

Greed. Simple avarice. She wants things to brag about, though she has nobody to brag to. She wants things nobody else has. Simple items, dead things, body parts, demons. It's all the same to her. It's almost compulsive.

Understood. And her capture of Bastien's soul was simply an extension of this avarice? To reclaim that part of you that was missing?

That's right.

Then—the earlier matter, regarding Lord Bastien. He stands accused of keeping souls from purgatory.
