[Day 4] Hell

Some of you are discussing serious lawyering with the most serious lawyer. Others are reuniting with old friends, or meeting new ones(?) . . . and some of you are just flat-out riding bad decision dinosaur trains.

You cross "outside," through a courtyard with a grotesque statue spouting . . . red water . . . from various holes in its body, cascading down into a fountain where, occasionally, carved faces are visible through the liquid. It's quite creative, really.

You feel eyes watching you, here, from the small windows in the towering structures above you. The windows here have bars.

David walks fairly briskly, through another set of double-doors. Up ahead, there is a solid metal door, inscribed with runes that hurt to look at. David winces a little, the darkness around him flaring. A uniform-clad demon with the head of a dog and the body of a man sits at a desk near the door, head turning to them as they approach.

". . . what is your business here?" he demands.

David . . . almost laughs.

"We're looking for Adam and Lucia Bellcourt, Sebastien Mayfair, and . . ." He glances at Fon helplessly. ". . . Tristan."

The guard dog gives a little grunt, taking the scroll from Shuri and breaking the seal, scanning the paper.

". . . hnn." It is . . . not easy to read his reactions, but his hackles seem to raise a little. Inexplicably, after a moment, he gives a short bow, then moves to the door. "You may pass," he rumbles. And, "you'll want floor two and floor four for those in court custody. Don't go up past floor five. The Rank S criminal is being held in the next compound—go straight through the doors on the other side. They'll check your paperwork again there."

The paper from Baal-Berith has rolled itself up and resealed itself. He hands it back to Shuri.

David looks a little worried, but leads the way inside when the guard opens the door.

David looks uncertain, but nods. "Tristan's . . . okay," he says. "I'd like to get him out of here, too. But—he's still a demon. So . . . be careful."
