[Game 21] That Night

After everyone has gotten fed and had a chance to learn the basic details of what things are like here, Kieran calls you all together (pretty much because Madison had been trying to work up the steam to do so, so Kieran stepped in instead).

It's dark outside, and a little chill—about 9 or 10PM.

"Okay, guys," Kieran says. "So, Maddy's got enough train tickets for all of us minus two. Maddy's staying behind because of prophecy reasons, and I'm going to stay with him so he's not left alone in this house and also because I'm probably a killswitch for a powerful incubus, aka my boyfriend, showing up if anything happens to me and, by extension, Maddy." He delivers this all in a deadpan. "Anything else, Maddy?"

Maddy looks a little alarmed to be put on the spot, shaking his head and flushing a little. "Er. Not for now. Oh . . . if anything goes. Weird? Please listen to Sariel—he's . . . in charge?" And he hands over an envelope to everyone's favourite psychopomp.

Ah, that game is called chess? Is it alright if Zeno watches you play?

The slight woman looks up but stays quiet; the effervescent woman grins, turning to him. "No skin off my back," she says. "That's a great name. Like the philosopher?"

Maybe! Zeno never actually asked.

[makes himself comfy in the aisle though]

"I think he's the one who was a big fan of paradoxes..."

Ohh, Zeno didn't know that. It seems like a pretty philosopher kind of thing to get caught up in, though.

"I can google him if you want!"

She gets out her phone and hands Zeno the wikipedia page on Zeno the philosopher.

[holds her phone like a PRECIOUS DELICATE ITEM which, to be fair, is just proper treatment of another person's phone.]

Oh my, oh my. Thank you very much. Oh yes, it does seem like he's the paradox guy.

"A pretty cool namesake, in my opinion!"

Zeno's learned a lot today! Thank you very much!

[passing her phone back]

"You're very welcome, kiddo!"

[giving the ladies a thumbs up for letting Zeno play]

The blonde gives Kano one back, with an air of delighted confusion.

[Kano is just gonna keep an eye on things, the air of an amused big brother making sure a little brother doesn't cause too much trouble]
