Maon leads the way back towards civilization—somehow making his way easily back out through the woods, and you know, there's some things you just don't ask about.

It's a little longer walk back than it was getting there—you'd ended up popping out in a slightly different location. The sun isn't quite up enough to be causing any adverse side effects, and somehow as you walk, you find any fatigue or pain or chill drifting away, leaving you feeling rejuvinated rather than exhausted. The really happy archangel might be partially to blame for that.

The cottage soon comes into sight. Siùsaidh is sitting on the porch waiting, and Tristan's car is once again parked outside.

"Tis about time ye got back," she says firmly. "Tis been three days, and I can only mind an incubus in my home fer so long. Step inside for breakfast, now, won't ye?"

No I honestly would feel a lil silly pouring my heart out to a dog.

[ laughs, a little. ]

Well, you do not have to do anything. But the offer is there.

Oh, not at all. I really enjoy being touched.

[ruffles, then]

Anyway it's all really dumb and you'll hear it and go "isn't that a bit silly, though?" and we'll all laugh.

[ ducks under it, smiling ]

Oh, if you wish. But I have known some people who are very very silly, and you are not at all like them.

I used to have a big family. I had a brother, and two parents, and we had a bunch of people who helped out in the household.

[ a pause ]

... do you miss them very much?

All the time.

Is there no way to be with them again?

They're dead.

[ There's a sort of expression like it can't entirely empathize-- it's sympathetic, sure, but it can't really relate.

It's trying, though. ]

I am very sorry... is it that you are lonely, then?

Yeah, kind of, I guess. I'm angry a lot and I'm sad a lot and I haven't really let myself live with other people again until just a month or two ago.

With-- Sariel and Kano, yes? Did it go badly...?

Oh, no, it was nice.

Oh! Good! And so you are going to continue living with them?

I don't... know. There's no need to.

But if they are happy, and you want to, you should stay because you like it as well.

You should not be lonely. If you think so, then it matters because I do not think you should be lonely at all.
