Maon leads the way back towards civilization—somehow making his way easily back out through the woods, and you know, there's some things you just don't ask about.

It's a little longer walk back than it was getting there—you'd ended up popping out in a slightly different location. The sun isn't quite up enough to be causing any adverse side effects, and somehow as you walk, you find any fatigue or pain or chill drifting away, leaving you feeling rejuvinated rather than exhausted. The really happy archangel might be partially to blame for that.

The cottage soon comes into sight. Siùsaidh is sitting on the porch waiting, and Tristan's car is once again parked outside.

"Tis about time ye got back," she says firmly. "Tis been three days, and I can only mind an incubus in my home fer so long. Step inside for breakfast, now, won't ye?"

When you step inside, you'll find that not only is there a full breakfast to pick from, there's also an older gentleman, very tallwith graying, pale blond hair and thin features, sitting at a table drinking orange juice (or mimosas . . .?) with Tristan.

I was sort of hoping they'd be back later, so we'd have an excuse for cake already. Though we can probably make an exception because I'm an indulgent sinner.

Mr. Prewett gets up in a hurry, almost tripping over his cane that he'd left next to his chair, but doesn't bother to pick it up, taking three quick limping steps closer. "Madison...!"

[not slamming into him because he doesn't want to knock him the fuck over but making a little warbly sound as he grabs his shoulders and buries his face in his shoulder]

Because Tristan cares about you like a big old emotional loser.

Mr. Prewett hugs him hard, making a soft sound, squeezing him. "Ahh, it's true, you're really back..."

I'm—um. Oh. Yes. Hi.

[oh man, I was doing so good and not crying at all]

He strokes Madison's hair gently. You're nearly as tall as he is now!

It feels like it's been so long, I guess it was inevitable.
