"I can get one of the demons to drive us most of the way," says David, as their group splits off from the others. "Unfortunately," he adds dryly, "and for obvious reasons, I can't drive us."

I was under the impression that they stood accused of the crime.

"Not in any official capacity that I'm aware of."

Have you heard anything about it in an unofficial capacity?

Kaname was telling the truth when he said we were hired by the Bellcourts. Even if it was more of an enlistment.

The receptionist shakes his head. "I don't even really know who you're speaking of. Adam Bellcourt is an associate, of course, and his son . . . but I was not aware that they might be complicit."

If you're a demon, I find that really hard to believe.

"They're humans," he stresses. "What human would be able to kill a Duke in his own base?"

Well... yeah. That's fair. But it doesn't mean people aren't gonna try to frame them anyway, which is why we're here. Again, you're a demon, you should know how the game goes!

That seems a little racist...

I wouldn't say they are. But I haven't met those two.

Someone suspects them, but as the Bellcourts have no interest in killing business partners, they would like the matter cleared up before other interested parties assume things.

"Who is this someone?"

Are you familiar with Isobel?

His eyes narrow a little. "Yes, of course. She is also one of the suspects."

Yeeep. That's kinda why I figured showing you the eye was necessary.

"Where did you get that?" He looks curious.

"Yes, and I hear they give those out at hiring fairs in shopping malls." His voice is dripping with disdain.
