[Game 10] Epilogue

That little diversion aside, with no sign of reoccurring, a few hours pass with the group together and Zoey is humming as she gathers materials for the magic circle in the basement.

There's still time before midnight to have whatever moments with everyone else you like before going home, but you can feel in the air that it'll be soon.

Well, who else did you think was going to do something about it?

"I'm still working on an idea of my own autonomy," David says dryly.

It's not exactly a revolutionary idea. A person is only able to take control of their own fear, right? No one else can do it for them.

"I've never had much control in my own life," David says hesitantly. "And I still don't. I'm still trapped in a lot of ways."

David is starting to look a little nervous, glancing from side to side, fingers curling against Kazuki's chest. "Nnh."

[...tugs David's hair a little again]

If you can't say it, then you can't! It's not really any of my business unless you decide to make it my business.

David shakes his head. "It is your business . . ."

[virtuallyroyalty]

Okay, let me put it another way: Do you want to say it. Because I'm not interested in anything you feel obligated to say, since it won't change anything.

David nods mutely.

Is that a yes you want to say it, or a yes you get what I mean?

"Being in my own body freaks the hell out of me," David manages. "So—that's. I mean—you should know?"

Should is an obligation word! Aah, it's not really surprising that, after not being in your body for so long, that it'd do all sorts of stuff you're not used too though. Especially because of puberty, huh?

"Th . . . there's that," David agrees. "It's unfamiliar and also—confining. And since I can't walk, there's the added sense of just—not being free."

I thought you were going through rehab?

[arsgoetia]

"It's . . . slow. And painful." David smiles a little, though. "But I'm trying."

[virtuallyroyalty]

I'd say trying is taking control. It's when you give up or do nothing that you're not free.

[arsgoetia]

David braces himself on one arm, rubbing at his eyes with the sleeve covering his other hand. "Mmhmm."

[virtuallyroyalty]

[h-hey, tugs down against?!]

And you've got control over the company, and even some influence over what your sister does... and definitely over me and what happens here, so don't abuse that privilege!

[arsgoetia]

David resists, shoulders a little tense. "Ah . . . no I know, I mean, intellectually . . ."

[virtuallyroyalty]

[going to just loop his arms around David's shoulders then '^']

If you want to hang out as a shadow person sometimes, that's fine too.

"That's more of a work-around, not a solution," David mutters, shivering a little, tolerating it as long as Kazuki doesn't try to hold him too tightly. "Anyway, if I'm a shadow, we can't—"

[looks blank for a moment, then flushes!]

O-oh! Right... you seem to be able to do a lot as a shadow though.

"I'm getting better and better at it," David says hesitantly.
