As you land on the bank, a wind and rain starts up, tearing ferociously through the area, starting waves of blood behind you. Ahead of you are a number of squat buildings. It is dim as always, but in the distance -- an impossible horizon line, given that you are in a pit -- there is a red glow.

"Actually, my home's around here," Alac remarks. "If you want to come visit. Otherwise we can look for a train up."

I am sure this will not go badly for you at all!

There is a large squat castle beyond the barracks area. Strong-looking bald-headed men and women covered with tattoos and piercings, shifting masses of tentacles and organs, succubi and incubi -- the trait shared between them all being obvious physical strength -- watch you pass with a cautious interest.

Alac approaches the castle and gestures. "Come on, then."

Alac laughs at their reactions, and heads through a gateway which seems to be composed of screaming bones.

Yeah those look human.

A large entryway opens into a throne room. The throne is currently empty.

You don't see exactly what he does, but the building shakes, and then some demons enter with a table and chairs.
