[Final Day] Endgame

And just as suddenly as everything had began, the demons are gone—all of them. Not a single crow feather remains. As if being sucked backwards out of a vacuum, sound and light flood into the room and the hallway, crashing down on you. You are back in the real world, with noise and physics and sunlight streaming in through the window.

You are also left with two bereft Bellcourt children, the older of which is suddenly doubling over in his wheelchair and shouting in anguish.

David wraps his fingers around it tightly. "Sure," he says. ". . . I can usually tell if people are in the same vicinity as me, too."

As in, within the same room?

"That's about my limit when I'm awake, yeah," David says. "Or I could tell if somebody was outside the door. When I'm asleep, I can reach down to the bottom floors of the hospital . . . so I guess, if I was on the ground floor, I could probably reach out a couple blocks? While asleep, so that's not greatly useful, but . . ."

David looks at him oddly. "I'm kind of psychic?"

Well, yeah, but I think being able to mind talk with Yuki is better psychic-ability than that.

[...wrinkles his nose] Don't do that with him around me! I have to deal with it in camp all the time, it's annoying.

"Are you jealous?" David asks placidly.

[virtuallyroyalty]

No! I just don't like silent conversations happening when I'm RIGHT THERE.

"We're not talking about you, we're talking about how cool Yuki is."

That's not what I meant! If you're ignoring me, ignore me properly!

"I'm not ignoring you!"

. . . I'll give you a pass this once because I don't see you often and it's not like you know any better, but Yuki has no excuse.

"I'm not ignoring you," David presses, a little sulkily.

David punches back!

"Says you!"

[whacks David back with his pillow!!]

I didn't do anything this tie! That was all you!

"You're not making any sense!"

This fight is all YOUR FAULT.

[arsgoetia]

"Why are we fighting?!"

Because [Kazuki begins insufferably,] you are stupid. It's a fact. Accept it.

"I only will if you will," David says, reaching out and pulling you into a one-armed hug.

[virtuallyroyalty]

[grins and leans into it! He may have in fact been winding David up a little to diffuse tension and angst and stupid stuff like that]

Alright, it's a deal!

David laughs a little, ruffling your hair.

[Scowls kinda playfully, not that David can see, and pushes him away a little]

You should go talk to other people! I'll still be here.

"What! I'm talking to lots of people." A pause. "I just don't get to see you very often." Another pause. "Anyway you'll get pissy if I ignore you."
