After being hit by the door on the way . . . in, you force yourself into the sealed area and find yourself in a perfectly ordinary sitting room. There are portraits on the walls, and overstuffed chairs, and a big-ass rug, and a cold fireplace.

She gets off you and looks around. It's a long narrow hall, apparently on the outside of the building as there is one window letting in early morning light. The window is, however, obviously not just locked but sealed shut with paint.
There are two doors, at either end of the hall. One is plain; the other is somewhat more decoratively carved.

But before you can offer gallantly to dislocate a shoulder you hear a click, as though someone unlocked it from the other side.

"Oh," she says, surprised, "More guests."

Cady glances at Banjou. "Yyyes," she says. "I'd love to come in. Thanks, Ma'am."

"Would you like tea?" the woman offers. "I'm Lucille."

"Oh, very well," the woman says, and goes to sit next to the mirror. "And this is -- what did you say your name was?"
The old, smeared, dirty mirror does not respond.
"Oh, yes, of course," the woman murmurs.

"Um," Cady says. "Have you -- er. Is this your room?"
"Oh, yes," the woman says. "I usually just stay here. I need my quiet time, you know?"

Lucille says, "It's peaceful. My family has people coming and going all the time and they used to bother me, you know, so they took steps to keep a section of the house I wouldn't get guests. Still, it does get a little lonely so I'm glad you came."
